As a Discovery World Volunteer, you are a partner in our mission and an essential part of bringing the wonders of science to hundreds of thousands each year. All you need is a sense of curiosity and a willingness to help your community!

FAQs

  • Find a volunteer opportunity you are interested in.
  • Apply.
  • Have a phone interview with the Volunteer Coordinator.
  • Fill out some paperwork:
    • Liability & Confidentiality Waiver
    • Background Check (required for those 18+)
    • Look over our Volunteer Handbook
  • Undergo some training.
  • Different roles require different minimum hour commitments, but they range from 12-28 hours.
  • Most roles ask that you volunteer at least once a month, but the behind-the-scenes roles in the Aquarium have different requirements.
  • You create your own schedule! Volunteer when it’s most convenient for you.

Age varies by role, but the youngest we accept are 12 years old with a parent/guardian or 14 years old on your own.

Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate any court-mandated volunteer requests.
