Turtle Fest

Thursday, June 5th – Sunday, June 8th
9:00 am – 4:00 pm


Join us for a 4-day shellabration of Discovery World’s most charismatic residents!

Get to know our amazing turtles (and meet some turtle-y cool friends from partner organizations), make wearable turtle projects, join turtle enrichment presentations, enjoy animal encounters, and more!

Learn from our aquarists and local wildlife experts, catch a turtle feeding and even a tiny zoo!
Explore an overview of the daily activities below:

Thursday 6/5:

  • Watch a turtle feeding, create turtle crafts, explore an augmented reality digital dissection, make a turtley-unique block print, take to the exhibits with a cool scavenger hunt.

Friday 6/6:

  • Explore Animal Encounters throughout the day, turtle crafts & block printing, story time, turtle feedings, a Turtle vs Hare race, and more!

Saturday 6/7:

  • Explore turtley-creative makers and exhibitors along the promenade, take a turtle walk with the team from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, learn from experts during the Turtle Enrichment Presentation, get up close during Animal Encounters, and meet the turtles from area community organizations.

Sunday 6/8:

  • Make a turtle hat and meet turtle focused exhibitors, learn from experts during the Turtle Enrichment Presentation, get up close during Animal Encounters, listen to a story time with the Milwaukee Public Library, sing “Happy Birthday” to Beep, explore Tatiana’s Tiny Zoo! and more!



Meet the Turtles of Discovery World

    • Beep & Boop – These Box Turtles are our spokes-turtles! Beep, is shy and loves curling up in their shell. Boop, is the opposite—outgoing and always ready for the camera!
    • Salt & Peppa – Our two resident Wood Turtles who love to climb and explore!
    • Tortilla – A Spiny Softshell Turtle who loves burrowing under tiny rocks, often leaving just his snout peeking out.
    • Linnaeus – A Blanding’s Turtle with a perpetual smile who enjoys watching guests walk by.
    • Wolverine – A Red-Eared Slider who dances through the water and loves squeezing under exhibit elements to hide.
    • Plus, find our group turtle exhibit behind our touch tanks with Red-Eared Sliders, Northern Map Turtles, and a Painted Turtles.
