Dive deeper into our saltwater species during Shark Week with our Aquarist team! Get up close with our flappy friends and learn what it takes to care for our aquatic wildlife.
- Stingrays are close cousins to sharks and share similar anatomical features – Get up close at our Touch Tanks
- They are both part of the elasmobranch subclass. This is a group of species with cartilaginous skeletons (meaning that their skeletons are made from soft cartilage rather than bone) and 5-7 gill slits.
- Stingrays have the nickname of “flat sharks”
